Same-day Guided Immediate Placement and Provisionalization Using an Improved Digital Workflow Hands-On Workshop

Patients with debilitated or missing dentition often seek rehabilitation to quickly regain masticatory function, aesthetics, and quality of life. Clinicians can now predictably offer treatment solutions for both single-tooth and immediate full-arch restorations to meet patient demands and expectations. This program combines didactic and hands-on training to show participants a step-by-step, practical approach to deliver provisional prostheses on the day of implant placement with reliable accuracy; definitive prostheses can be fabricated and delivered in an appropriate timeframe. Basic Science and Clinical Application of Trabecular Metal™ Technology in Complex Orthopedic Reconstruction

This presentation will review basic science and the clinical application of the unique biomaterial of Zimmer Biomet Trabecular Metal™ Technology (TM) in orthopedic reconstruction. TM is a porous form of tantalum formed by chemical vapor deposition of tantalum onto a vitreous carbon skeleton substrate. The resulting material has a structure and porosity that emulates that of human cancellous bone. The pore size and 100% interconnecting structure serves as an osteoconductive scaffold and demonstrates excellent osseointegration. TM has been used extensively in complex orthopaedic reconstruction for both primary and revision total hip and knee replacement. Clinical and radiographic outcomes have consistently demonstrated 92-100% survival of TM implants at more than 10 years follow-up, thus TM Implants have been found to play a valuable role in the reconstructive armamentarium of the Orthopedic Surgeon.

Trabecular Metal™ Technology from Orthopedics to Dental Implant Therapy

Trabecular Metal, an (80%) porous tantalum biomaterial with trabecular-like structure for three-dimensional bone in-growth, has been used for more than two decades in orthopedic surgery. As a result of great success in orthopedics, a tapered, threaded, titanium dental implant with a Trabecular Metal midsection has been developed and has been tested in animal models followed by human cases for more than five years. This presentation will describe how Trabecular Metal Technology is different from traditional implant surface technologies and designs. Clinical case examples of the Trabecular Metal Dental Implant will be presented including cases for enhanced secondary stability in poor quality bone, in compromised sites, in medically compromised patients, and as a rescue implant following peri-implantitis.

Benefits and limitations of currently available intraoral scanners used in combination with the BellaTek® Encode® Impression System will be discussed, along with advanced design principles used in CAD/CAM abutment design. With the growing demand for full-arch restorations that can be delivered immediately after placement of dental implants, this program will include a comprehensive overview of the team’s role in the fabrication and delivery of such restorations, followed by the design and fabrication of the definitive prosthesis.
